In November 2002 State Higher Vocational School in Nowy Sacz for the first time has applied to European Commision in Brussels declaring active participation in development of European education. Receiving Erasmus University Charter for 2003-2007 let our University to participate in Socrates/Erasmus programme.
The university strategy and main priorities for 2007–2013 are: increasing students’, academic teachers and administrative staff mobility, increasing quality and quantity of multilateral cooperation, increasing qualifications’ visibility and conformability obtained in other universities, starting cooperation with foreign enterprises to obtain future partners for students placements, develop innovations in educational sector and exchange of experience, in many aspects supporting LLL, among this University of The Third Age in Nowy Sacz; lectures of teaching staff and educational consultancy, Academic Seminars-cyclic lectures for students, academic staff and local community, organized from 2002. Throughout many supplementary forms of education academic teachers, and administrative staff are raising their qualifications for ex.: language courses, post diploma studies, doctoral studies etc. University is emphasizing very important meaning of English language, as a main way of communication in global world. We also plan to enter lectures in English into all fields of studies. ECTS was implemented in all fields of study as the main device, which makes possible students’ mobility, joint and multilateral projects, which will also be very important in university strategy.
Up till now we have signed bilateral agreements with: Germany, Italy, France, Norway, Slovakia, Hungary and Turkey. Quality and high level of mobility will also be very important goal. Financial support from university own funds will help organize mobility. To comply with basics Erasmus rules, university will pay attention to the non-discrimination rules; any signs racism or xenophobia because of gender, nationality, disability or religion will be treated as the violation of human rights. To achieve social and economic cohesion of EU, university will take all possible measures. We were open for cooperation with universities and institutions from many countries; there was no place for racism or xenophobia. Students were participating youth exchanges in Macedonia, Serbia, Norway, Sweden, Russia and Ukraine; they were taking part in workshops breaking stereotypes, prejudice and xenophobia.
There are disabled students in our University, there has never been any symptoms of discrimination because of gender, nationality or disability in university’s human recourses politics.
In order to guarantee proper visibility to Erasmus University Charter, Erasmus Policy Statement and Erasmus programme, in cooperation with local media there will be widespread publicity and information delivered to academic and local community, companies and other institutions.
